About Us

Van Hornesville Community Corporation

The Van Hornesville Community Corporation, founded in 1938 by Owen D. Young, is a not-for-profit charitable corporation whose goals are to promote the well-being and well-doing of the inhabitants of Van Hornesville and the near neighborhood. It is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization qualified to receive gifts and contributions, including matching employer gifts. Our Federal Tax ID # is 15-6024464.  Contributions to the Van Hornesville Community Corporation are eligible for tax deduction in the U.S.A.; please consult your tax advisor for eligibility. No goods or services are offered or provided in exchange for your contribution. Annual membership dues, $25 for an individual and $35 for a couple. The VHCC owns its office and library building, the village park, the millpond and its surrounding green, the Millpond Community Center (formerly Millpond Church), the Van Horne Mill, the former Fire Station, and the woodland area east of the Owen D. Young Central School, where the school's Robert B. Woodruff Outdoor Learning Center is located. The maintenance of the buildings and grounds, gardening, and other beautification efforts, cause the VHCC’s largest expenditure of funds and are the most visible example of its work.
